[Spock was shaking his head half-way through Elizabeth's speech, and once again fiddled with the padd. The stars above them shifted, showing a multitude of galaxies, stars and... a black hole. You couldn't exactly tell it was a black hole... but it was an absence of anything else.]
Miss Elizabeth, I assure you that you are at no fault for us being here. From what I am aware, this world is old... Not even the Malnosso recall when they first started to arrive here. They are prisoners here too... and they continue to conduct their experiments on us to see if they might find the proper formula to be once more 'squeezed' into normal existence. I believe this world is a living, sentient being. It somehow has the ability to drag individuals from their respective universes to here. The barrier I had originally thought to be the main source of this creature, but I am further convinced that whatever it is that lies at the bottom of these tunnels, carry answers to our questions. For now, we can only speculate.
This...
[Spock points up at the black expanse.]
...is a black hole. It is a vacuum in which no light reaches. If by accident or design this planet was swallowed by a black hole, it could reside here in quiet obscurity. It would explain the lack of real stars here in Luceti. The stars you see at night are fabricated... an unpleasant reminder of where we are. Being in a black hole could be the reason why return is so difficult... with or without the Malnosso's part.
And that brings us to our next matter... that this planet thrives on our emotions.
