Personal Log #18 - [Action - All Day]

The Dome:

[One of the simulator doors is wide open for anyone to see inside, and for the most part, the room is empty... except for a tv, and a large couch; the back of which is facing the door. For anyone who knows the Vulcan well, they'll recognize the cap of neat, black hair sticking above the back of the couch. What will seem odd though are the sounds coming from the room...

...sounds, for those who would recognize them, that resemble something like video games from the mid eighties to early nineties.

If anyone dares to venture into the room and walks around the couch, they'll see the floor littered with games for the various consoles set up by the tv. Currently, Spock is engrossed with Super Mario Bros for the SNES, his eyebrows and mouth fixated in a scary looking frown as he navigates through the levels.]

[ooc: Spock has been gone for just about two weeks, and is now suffering under a inconvenient effect: he's addicted to video games. For those who would like to jump in on this, there are extra controllers. *hint hint*
Also, it's good to be back~ /hugs everyone/]

[An open door? That seems weird. How would that affect a simulation to have a door in the middle of nowhere? But, when she leans around the door to peek in, it actually looks like a room, so it would make sense. On the other hand, she's not quite sure what's up with that box. She's seen one like that in the rec centre -- though not with that many other boxes hooked up to it -- but she's never been around when it was on, so the images going by are new. She watches from the doorway for a while, trying to puzzle it out.]

...Did you make a -- simulation inside a box inside a simulation?

[We have to go deeper.]
blessingone: (always thought that this could never be)

A game? What kind of game?

[Is that what that thing is supposed to be? Despite not actually saying yes, she does come closer, looking at the setup quizzically.]
blessingone: (like you could save me)

[personal profile] blessingone 2014-08-06 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
...Why not?

[She picks her way through the games littered on the floor to sit on the other end of the couch. She takes the offered controller, although she's holding it completely wrong.]

I didn't realize you were the sort to spend much time playing games.

[She'd gotten the impression he was allergic to fun.]
blessingone: (we've been sitting here for hours)

[She appreciates not being directly told she's doing it wrong, though it takes her a moment to settle her hands.]

You can't seem to stop? Like...you didn't realize how much fun it would be before you started?

[Ah, but the colours on the screen are moving.] ...You mean that green blocky thing? I guess it does look a little like a person.

[She gives him a bit of an odd look.]

Do you think it's a new Shift? I don't want to get stuck in here, too, if that's what's going on this week.

[Though it is rather early in the month for a village-wide shift. Still, she does press the suggested buttons. ...Except she presses them both at the same time.]

I'm...not really good with electricity stuff. [Her pronounciation of electricity is even awkward, as though it's a foreign word, though at least she's stopped calling it elec'ricity like she used to.] So that...moves the green thing up and down. Why can't that be just one button?
blessingone: (so much better than all this)

[personal profile] blessingone 2014-08-07 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Ah.

[She looks a bit awkward about the kidnapping thing -- she hadn't known he'd been gone and it's not really a pleasant thing to discuss, so she's glad for the distraction of the button instructions.]

This one to jump, this one to acceler -- huh? [The green squares aren't accelerating.... (Because she's not moving. It seems she thinks that pressing the button will make Luigi start rocketing off somewhere rather than speeding up movement already going on.

She shakes her head.]
It's not like I stay away from it, exactly. [Yes it is she got a blacksmith to make her a woodstove in exchange for her electric one and she does all the washing by hand.] I mean, I use the electric lights, and the electric icebox, and things like that. But it's easier to use the things I already know how to use.
blessingone: (you bolded all your best words)

[personal profile] blessingone 2014-08-12 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
[She bristles, figuratively speaking, because she has felt stuck in a rut for a while. Maybe a little less lately, since she's had...stuff to occupy her, but the feeling still comes up now and then.]

And I suppose you find a new way to cook breakfast every morning, do you? It's not like the houses have much more than things for cooking and cleaning in the electricity stuff. Why does it matter so much if I do my chores differently from everyone else? Who cares?

[And she aggressively accelerates Luigi...immediately into a bottomless pit.]
blessingone: (how I envy the way that you move)

[personal profile] blessingone 2014-08-13 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
You're the one giving me grief about it!

[Ah, the wonders of idioms. Very few people have been at her about these kinds of things, but she's been able to supply it in her imagination.]

Look, I'm just not that good with electricity things. Maybe most of the people here are good at everything, but it's normal to have some things you aren't good at, all right?

[She turns back to the game.]

...And where did the green guy go?!

[Down a pit.]
