Personal Log #18 - [Action - All Day]

The Dome:

[One of the simulator doors is wide open for anyone to see inside, and for the most part, the room is empty... except for a tv, and a large couch; the back of which is facing the door. For anyone who knows the Vulcan well, they'll recognize the cap of neat, black hair sticking above the back of the couch. What will seem odd though are the sounds coming from the room...

...sounds, for those who would recognize them, that resemble something like video games from the mid eighties to early nineties.

If anyone dares to venture into the room and walks around the couch, they'll see the floor littered with games for the various consoles set up by the tv. Currently, Spock is engrossed with Super Mario Bros for the SNES, his eyebrows and mouth fixated in a scary looking frown as he navigates through the levels.]

[ooc: Spock has been gone for just about two weeks, and is now suffering under a inconvenient effect: he's addicted to video games. For those who would like to jump in on this, there are extra controllers. *hint hint*
Also, it's good to be back~ /hugs everyone/]

[Lance had come to the Battle Dome today to train his Pokemon. Imagine his surprise when he passes by a room and sees the door open with some familiar sounds coming out of it.

The dragon master pauses, and peeks in before daring to venture in. Coming up behind the couch he sees the console and the game being played. The man whistles lowly.]

I haven't seen one of those in a long time.

[Not since Gen 2!]

[Eley had been visiting the Dome a little more often lately since he'd gotten hold of a weapon. He wanted to practice how to use the thing after all, and not to do damage either. He was aiming to detain foes without doing too much harm.

...today though, something was a bit different. There was a strangely alluring noise coming from one of the rooms and the Spirit finds himself drawn to it. He notes the strange grey and black cartridges on the floor and boxes scattered around and bends down to pick one up. 'Sonic the Hedgehog'. What on earth was this?

Putting it back down again, Eley approaches the couch in the middle of the room and notices a familiar figure sitting there, tapping away on a strange device and staring at a box with a tiny man running across it.]

Spock...? What are you doing?

This is a game?

[He was aware of games played among people... like that 'volleyball' for instance... but nothing on a square machine that involved using a device. And he couldn't stop playing it? Was that part of the game too?

Eley sits, rather fascinated by the whole concept.]

I am not sure if I understand how this game is supposed to be played. You say you cannot stop playing? Perhaps you are simply enjoying it more than you realise.
removeimpurity: (How curious indeed.)

[It's late in the afternoon that Syre wanders into the Battledome, aiming to practice her skills with the rapier. And, in typical fashion, she starts head straight for the first open simulation room she can find...]

[...and pauses, mid-stride, to peer inside the open doors of the room Spock is currently occupying. All she can see is the piece of furniture and the head of dark hair, but the strange beeping she hears is more than enough to pique her curiosity.]

[Quietly, she steps into the room, avoids various strewn about boxes, and finally manages to close enough of the distance to rest her hands on the back of the couch and watch over the figure's shoulder.]

[On the screen, she's barely able to follow as a brightly-colored, squarish-shaped man hops over creatures with turtle shells, onto a green pipe...]

That's a strange sort of simulation. It looks almost like a caricature.

I am, actually. I use to play with these when I was younger. It's a Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

[Nevermind that he too is a Nintendo character, but he doesn't know that.]
winds_voice: (Hmm)

[Eley takes one of the controllers and just... stares at it. What were all these buttons for? And at Spock's comment he simply tilts his head in confusion.]

What do you mean by... 'I am'? I am Eleytheria, not Luigi.
innerdragon: (what's that?)

Lance. It's good to meet you.

[He then comes around the couch and extends his hand... though he pauses and leans slightly. His brow furrowed a bit as he notices the man's pointed ears and peculiar complexion.]
removeimpurity: (Aren't you just a charming fellow?)

[personal profile] removeimpurity 2014-08-04 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! Spock! I didn't notice it was you.

[Hello there, old friend!]

[It is indeed Syre; there are a few grey hairs along her temples, and some lines along her face, but other than that she's exactly the same as he may remember.]

I was wondering if you were still around. I hadn't seen you when I returned!

[And now, ever so casually, she'll walk right on around the couch and have a seat, making sure to move the second controller aside so that she doesn't sit on it.]

I see...

[Sort of. Well, at least he can hold the controller properly, going by Spock's example. It did feel more natural this way; the buttons seemed to match where his thumbs could reach.

At his suggestion, Eley starts to push some of the buttons to see what they do, realising that the little green man on the screen seemed to move in different ways depending on what was pressed. Running, jumping, ducking... it was a very strange experience for the Spirit but he was willing to give it a chance.

...his first mistake being to drop down into one of the pits on the level, causing everything to stop momentarily. Eley looks rather concerned.]

Did I do something wrong?
removeimpurity: (You're not serious?)

[personal profile] removeimpurity 2014-08-04 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
So, another example of the Malnosso at work?

[Syre's eyes focus on the screen, watching with ever-growing interest. That music was catchy...]

Well, I suppose it's far better than any of the alternative effects they could have burdened you with. This actually seems quite pleasant.

[Well, he's seen stranger things here in Luceti, and Lance isn't about to be rude. So he leaves the question for now and instead sits down, not minding the handshake rejection.]

Sure. I'm going to be a little rusty though.

[With that he takes up the second player controller.]

[personal profile] winds_voice 2014-08-04 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
This character has multiple lives? Interesting... then you have multiple chances to rectify your mistakes.

[All right, perhaps you're thinking a bit too deeply about this Eley. There were so many different games in here though that he honestly didn't mind trying new ones either. He gives a nod to his friend.]

Let us try something else. Did you have anything in mind?
removeimpurity: (I'm sorry but... What?)

[personal profile] removeimpurity 2014-08-04 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course. [Syre smiles in return, takes the controller...]

[...and proceeds to stare at it like a child with no idea of what she's doing. Whoops]

So... How do I... use it?
