(I let Parker know about this thread; Ami's player is overwhelmed with stuff at the moment -- but they're willing to do a thread for a later double date, if anything.)

[When Syre made it to Good Spirits, she was expecting Luke and his date to have already been there, waiting for her and Spock -- but they weren't. So, she had taken a seat at a table, and waited for the three of them by herself.]

[One minute because two, then five, then fifteen. Something in the pit of the Ecliptian's stomach twisted, and a faint realization dawned:]

[Luke and his date weren't going to show.]

[When Spock shows up, he'll likely find the Ecliptian looking about impatiently, her fingers drumming against the table.]
removeimpurity: (That's... sweet.)

[Spock's arrival does not go unnoticed, itself. Syre wonders, for a moment, if Spock was aware of why she was here. Luke had given her the courtesy of informing her of who her date would be, but she could not speak for the Vulcan.]

[Well, I'm sure he'll figure it out, she muses internally.]

[As her date drew nearer to the table, she pulls out a rose of her own from the pocket of her dress suit, meeting his eyes with a smile and the faintest hint of a pink blush on her cheeks.]
removeimpurity: (Not too bad. I think.)

Though a pleasant one, if I may say myself. [She takes the rose gently, carefully tucking it over her ear; she didn't want to damage it by sliding it into her suit.]

[Her smile widens, and she folds her hands neatly on the table.]

Though I am... disappointed to say that our ever-so-eager matchmakers have decided to leave us to our own devices. [A chuckle.]
removeimpurity: (Aren't you just a charming fellow?)

[Syre laughs amusedly, looking away in a similarly shy motion.]

Nor am I, truthfully. I have never had the time to pursue anything other than work-related friendships.

[She turns back to Spock, her expression still quite nervous.]

Perhaps we should treat this as we would any other interaction, yes? After all, we have spoken in much more formal circumstances.
removeimpurity: (Not too bad. I think.)

Quite well, actually. I've been keeping busy with things. [She likes straight to the point. This is good, for small talk.] And yourself? How have you been?

[She nods, a flicker of relief in her eyes.] Good, good. We all needed to recover from... well. From what had happened.

[At the question, Syre laughs shyly.] Well, you see... I did not wake up for quite some time after that. I had slept for nearly two whole days! [She laughs again.] My body has strange ways of recuperating, it seems.
removeimpurity: (Yeah - let me get riiiight on that.)

'Difficult' is an understatement, Spock.

[She fixes her gaze on him for a bit, then laughs softly -- the sound is almost like a disbelieving scoff.]

You had no reason to worry, Spock. I have, admittedly, performed similar stints in the past.
removeimpurity: (Well - if you insist)

Hence why I used it!

Well, I have been doing a good job thus far.

[A laugh.] But the Malnosso seem to throw little irritations my way on a whim.
removeimpurity: (You wouldn't understand...)

I agree. [And this is coming from someone whose experiments involve cutting people open.]

[At Spock's question, Syre looks away, as though contemplating the proper words to use.]

It is a... coping mechanism of mine, in a way. A habit that has been long ingrained in my mental processes.

'If there is an issue that cannot be solved, then one must work until a solution is found.'

[A pause.] I am not trying to make an excuse for my behavior, however. I know it is potentially harmful; I simply know no other methods through which I can adjust.
removeimpurity: (How curious indeed.)

[At the question, Syre says nothing at first -- she simply smiles knowingly, as though expecting the topic to come up.]

You would be correct. It does indeed alchemy; I am wanting to create a non-organic construct to serve as an assistant and a caretaker in times of distress.

It has been a goal of mine for... a long, long time.
