Personal Log #6...4th Wall

[Spock was.... rather curious at the unexpected influx of individuals without wings...

In his mind, the Vulcan was making theories that included black holes, transporters, ion storms...It was frustrating that the nature of this world made it impossible to pin down any one theory.

Spock can be found traveling to the Dome in the morning, and working there for the rest of the day.
In the evening the Vulcan's curiosity gets the better of him and he stops by Seventh Heaven to see who all is there.]

[Spock regards him with an eyebrow raise...]

I beg your pardon?

There is no special twenty-eight... In French it would be La vingt-huit spéciale....

[Spock gives him a look that is very Vulcan.] I am Spock, who are you?

Then I'll have that thing you just said. [...] Unless it's snails or frog legs, because I heard they eat those in France.

[At Spock's introduction, he looks thrilled. In theatrical speechlessness, he places his hand over his heart.] I'm Kevin. Wow, talk about really caring about your customers! They should really promote you. [This is said with nothing but sincerity.]

Mister Kevin... [Spock narrows his eyes...] If you are need of food, then I suggest that you inquire at the appropriate place. [Spock gestures to counter...]

I am not in a position here to be promoted. [Spock does not understand the concept of sarcasm.]

[He looks over his shoulder to see the front counter. You know, that place where you place orders. Slowly, he turns back to Spock.] Sooooo...what you're saying is you don't work here?

That would be correct Mister Kevin.

I am curious though... where did you think you were? [Spock wants to know where that order 28 thing came from...

Curious Vulcan is curious.]

I thought this would be just like Burger Emperor. I mean, it doesn't really look like it, but that's how dreams always are - you're in a place you've never seen before, but you just know where you are. Know what I'm saying?

[Spock tilts his head...]

I believe I understand what you are attempting to convey...

Though I can assure you, this is no dream, nor is it Burger Emperor. This is Luceti.

See, that's it! I've had this dream before, and, and I woke up and forgot all about it! And now I'm having it again!

Unfortunately, that is the nature of this place... Once you leave, you forget.... until you possibly return.

Even then you are not guaranteed your memories.

[Spock stands straight... looking very Vulcan-like...] Not a dream.

Yeah, yeah, so it's like that dream I always have where I'm late for school and then it turns out I forgot to put on my shoes, and I just feel silly.

[Spock raises an eyebrow...]

Do you not mean pants?

Well, those too, but in my dream I'm always more worried about the shoes.

Indeed? That is most curious....

I also find myself wondering... what does the 'Number 28 Special' consist of?

[And he fires off with alarming speed and accuracy:] One double Empire burger with the works, a large order of curly fries, and a jumbo choco-choco shake.

Once again, I am left amazed by the English language...

However, that meal does not sound entirely beneficial to any physiology. [Doctor McCoy would not approve....]

Sometimes I get a soda too, so then it's probably a lot better for my fizzy-ology.

I beg your pardon? What area of study is that?

[Have a confused Vulcan stare.]

Fizzy-ology? [Now he sounds confused too, because he thought you already knew what it was. Since you're the one who brought it up!] It's the study of all things fizzy, I guess.

[Spock stares...

What?]

All things Fizzy? Are you, as they say, joking?

...I thought you were quizzing me.

Why were you under that impression? [Spock was confused... this man had a strange logic...]

[Spock regards him for awhile longer...] You have a fascinating logic Mister Kevin.

[And then his stomach makes a weird gurgling noise. He clutches at it and looks throughtful.] Oh yeah, I came here because I was hungry.

[Have an eyebrow... because it wasn't strictly a compliment...]

Then I suggest you make your way to the counter Mister Kevin... it was an'interesting' experience conversing with you.
