Personal Log #14 - Action/Not an Elf

[Why did he agree to do this? Well, he knows why he agreed to this, but the logical question would be why was he still in this illogical costume?
In the early evening, the Vulcan can be found walking through the village of Luceti wearing a very festive green and read elf costume, complete with a pointed hat and shoes. The hat even had a bell on it.
Spock's expression didn't exactly reflect the festive outfit he wore though, and if anything, it looked as though there should be a dark cloud following the Vulcan around. Approach him if you dare as he runs various errands at the grocery store, items shop, then finally the Dome.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, the Vulcan has become an elf for the season as a favour for a certain Captain.]

[Spock tilts his head... still looking rather embarrassed.]

Have you never done something you did not like for the sake of another?

Of course I have. That's not the point. If you were dressing this way to please someone else who isn't even in your presence, it seems more as if it's a punishment. Do you know why your friend would ask you to dress this way?

[Yeah, Spock's become kind of unknowingly blind when it comes to Kirk.]

I do not see it as a punishment, though I would wear this out of a sense of duty.
As for why... I am not completely certain, though it does seem to bring him a substantial measure of amusement.

Do you have another idea?

[There's a pause. She doesn't like being so blunt, but for some reason she can't seem to appeal to the vulcan's logical nature...]

Last year, in this enclosure, a mockery of elves were sent to watch our every move, in the spirit of the Earthen holiday of Christmas. And now you are wearing a very similar costume for that occasion. In my studies, I've found that most people from earth view the idea of Elves in various ways, but... mostly seem to discount the fact that they are an actual race beyond what gets represented in their folklore and fiction. And here in Luceti, it looks like this "Christmas" variety is becoming the common view... does that not concern you?

It concerns me in that yes, the garment is indeed insensitive to the world where elves exist.
However, I believe it is safe to create a different category for 'Christmas Elf', for it is only in that classification that exists on Earth.

Unless... Do you truly believe I am being offensive? [Spock is thinking of Zevran in this moment... and elf who would certainly find much amusement in the garment that Jim gave Spock.]

[... She does. But. Saying so would be saying too much, and the last thing she needs is this McCoy learning about it just yet.]

... Perhaps not intentionally. Still, if you are comfortable wearing it, then who am I to say otherwise?

I am certainly not comfortable wearing it.

[Spock looks momentarily flustered as he shifts awkwardly on his feet.]
Perhaps I am being illogical... or maybe I am even emotionally compromised.

You... do seem more preoccupied with the value of the garment as a gift.

[spohkh]

He has never given me anything before...

[And that's what it comes down to. Spock looks embarrassed again as he bows his head at Raine.]
