Personal Log #14 - Action/Not an Elf

[Why did he agree to do this? Well, he knows why he agreed to this, but the logical question would be why was he still in this illogical costume?
In the early evening, the Vulcan can be found walking through the village of Luceti wearing a very festive green and read elf costume, complete with a pointed hat and shoes. The hat even had a bell on it.
Spock's expression didn't exactly reflect the festive outfit he wore though, and if anything, it looked as though there should be a dark cloud following the Vulcan around. Approach him if you dare as he runs various errands at the grocery store, items shop, then finally the Dome.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, the Vulcan has become an elf for the season as a favour for a certain Captain.]

[Spock's eyebrows crunch together as he thinks about that...]

I do not know.

[It's an honest answer. At this point they've been doing this odd dance around each other ever since they returned... things have been tense. The meditations sessions certainly don't help either of them in this regard.]

...if there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

[He's not certain if there was anything he could say or any argument he could make to Kirk or Spock to help them understand how it is they feel about one another but...if there was? He would give it.]

[Spock hesitates for a moment, wondering how truthful he should be in this moment.]

I am not practiced in speaking at length about emotional habits. If I find that I require assistance in understanding anything in this regard, I will come to you.

[While he finds Zevran often so blatant in his emotions, the elf has also seen him at some of his worst. That makes him trust this individual.]

Nor am I, but I feel I've more experience than you. And that is a sad, sad thing, my friend. We both ought to work on that more, yes?

[He sets the can of- he can't remember at the moment, in his bag and offers Spock as kind a smile as he can manage.]

And should this be beyond me? I might ask jack and Eugene their thoughts- with your permission, of course.

[Spock hesitates only for a moment. He knows Jack and Eugene, and while it has been quite some time since their last conversation, Spock believes he can trust them.]

Of course. You are good friends with them, yes?

I'm married to them.

[He says with no little pride. They are good men, his Jack and Eugene. Kind men. Better than any he's meet before and he's always somewhat in awe of their affection.]

[Spock is momentarily surprised.]

My apologies, I was unaware. You have my congratulations.

[Was there a wedding? Spock feels a bit bad about missing it.]

We did not wish to make a fuss over it. I think only a handful of people know.

[Being married to an assassin meant putting up with all that paranoia. The fear that the connection held there would see them dead.]

You've my thanks. They both know far more of relationships and handling them than I- and if we need further perspective I am certain they might offer it.

[Spock goes to incline his head as he usually does out of politeness... but the moment is completely ruined as the bell rings out on his hat.
The Vulcan practically huffs...]

I am aware that they are both friends of the Captain... I will ask for you to make certain of their discretion. [He does not want this getting back to Jim.]

I will swear them both to secrecy if it comes to speaking to them. You have my word.

[He reaches out to rest a hand on Spock's shoulder, briefly, before letting it drop back to his side.]

For now let us see if there is not something we might do to make this a little more clear for the both of you, yes?

[Spock nods... but then tilts his head in curiosity (causing the bell to ring out once more, dammit).]

Did you have anything particular in mind?

Another Christmas tradition comes to mind. Several, actually.

[He reaches up and flicks that bell with a quirked brow, puzzled but- ignoring it for now.]

Mistletoe. It is an herb that is strung about in sprigs and if caught under it a couple is meant to kiss. There is also the option of keeping a warm hearth and cuddling to which Jack and Eugene have found themselves most receptive. I have also found that wearing the clothing of the one that holds your attraction works wonders but that might be difficult as you are taller and slightly broader in the shoulder than Jim. Hmm.

[Spock blinks... many times.
He's never 'snuggled' before, and Jim's clothes would never fit him. Mistletoe, while intriguing, was a bad option, especially when done in Luceti. No on had fun when their choice was taken away from them... especially when this delicate thing was already happening between them.]

Perhaps more 'brainstorming' is required. I have yet to give Jim his Christmas present, so maybe that will help...

Perhaps you should give something that shows you understand and care for his hobbies and interests?

[Spock gives Zevran a withering look...]

I will leave the gifting of alcohol to Doctor McCoy. [Spock shifts...]

I did hand-craft his gift though.

Handcrafted gifts are always weighty with sentiment- and an excellent way to show your affection. What did you make?

Vulcans live by law of Surak, a law of logic and IDIC, Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. There is a symbol that accompanies this ideal, and I have made it into a necklace for Jim.

[There, Spock is blushing green now.]

Mm. I would have recommended you make it into a ring- but perhaps that is jumping ahead quite a bit? Then again subtle does not tend to work well with Jim...

[Give him a moment, Spock.]

I'm certain he will find it charming and endearing.

[Spock blanched...]

A ring? Would that not be 'pushing it'?

[A ring meant... meant... oh dear, he couldn't even let himself think it right now.]

At this point? It would. The necklace is a good point.

[Spock nods...]

Very well. Thank you for your reassurance, I admit that I was unsure if the necklace was appropriate.

Tasteful, significant, and something he will remember to wear. Perhaps offered over a shared meal with some candelight...Well, that would be more appropriate for Valentine's, should my memory serve.

[Spock almost sighed, remembering last year on Valentines... It wasn't exactly the best experience, and certainly not consensual.]

Ah yes... more events to look forward to. [Spock is getting a handle on sarcasm, as you can see.]

I will inform you if the gift exchange was successful... then perhaps I could join you and your mates for a meal?

We have survived them once before.

[And will survive them once again. It will be easy.]

I will have to ask my boys if they would mind the company- but as they are ever encouraging me to make more friends, I think they would be glad to have you.

[Spock inclined his head, almost forgetting the stupid bell...]
