Personal Log #7
[Video]
Greetings and salutations. I believe that it is customary for one to welcome those who are newly arrived into Luceti.
Welcome.
To those who have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I can be found regularly at the Battle Dome for those who want to learn to utilize the simulations.
A reminder to everyone that the Kobayashi Maru simulation has been tested and is ready for public use. I will express my thanks to Mister Obi-Wan Kenobi, Miss Ami Mizuno, and Miss Lirael for testing the program for me.
I also find myself requiring assistance for a project that I have agreed to.... though I find myself now at an impasse. I am currently working on a small scale version of projected diburnium-osmium shield technology... with some minor alterations. If anyone is familiar with this or is willing to help, please inform me.
Peace and long life.
[Action]
[Spock found himself once again frustrated by the recent memory lapse... for one who highly values mental discipline, it is... unnerving to find that your mind has been tampered with. However, Spock has long ago come to terms with this place and its disregard for dignity.
In the morning Spock can be found at the Dome by the computer terminals...but in the late afternoon strange, hauntingly beautiful music can be heard coming from House #2's backyard.
The Vulcan was pleased to have completed his Lyre, and was now enjoying an afternoon of practice.
In the evening, Spock actually ventures out to Seventh Heaven and can be found at a solitary table with a cup of tea.
Come and bother Spock at any and all of these locations.]

I assist many individuals with the simulations, so you could state that I monitor more than partake in them.
Though I do utilize them from time to time.
I must admit... I would be curious to experience a simulation involving more phenomenological or paranormal aspects.
[Spock again looks at Derek's leg...] May I inquire as to what happened?
no subject
[He looks at his own leg then shrugs a little, the slightest of smiles on his lips.]
Had a slight disagreement with someone. We worked it out.
no subject
That is no 'slight disagreement'... that is a major altercation. How did you manage to 'work it out' after such an event?
no subject
[Derek shrugs a little.]
Some folks can only reason when their fists are involved.
no subject
Did he perhaps have red hair?
no subject
...No. Had tusks, though.
no subject
[Spock knew of this individual, though he had yet to meet him.] It is well that you did not sustain more severe injuries.
Though... perhaps you are used to such altercations?
no subject
no subject
Though it is unfortunate that it did not work out for you.
[Spock tilted his head....]
Are you supposed to be away from the medical wing at this time?
no subject
[Translation: as long as he doesn't get caught.]
no subject
It is amazing how the emotional psyche is not effected if knowledge of an event is not made known.
Do you need to go anywhere at this time? [Translation: Need to go out for a bit?]
no subject
[If you can get me out of the building for a bit, it would be really appreciated.]
no subject
[A beat of silence...]
I will get you a wheel chair. [the Vulcan stands and shortly returns with a wheelchair.]
no subject
And he suspects the Vulcan would be a lot more effective in preventing Derek from going.
So, wheelchair it is. At least it would get him out and somewhat around.]
So how long have you been here?
no subject
Approximately six point two months... It has been an interesting experience.
You are relatively new yes? How have you been adjusting?
no subject
Yes and no. "new as in, as far as I know, I just got here in January. Not so new as in there's several folks who say I've been here before. so...there you go.
I'm adjusting all right, I guess. Need to be home, but until we figure out how to get out, or I supposedly get bounced home again, not much to be done about it. I'm just hoping that whole thing about time standing still is true. [Otherwise, he'd be going home to an ugly mess.]
no subject
[Translation? Me too man, me too.]
So far, from any returned individuals that have retained their memory from their prior visit to Luceti have claimed that time has indeed stood still. So it is most likely that it will happen...
....then again, the knowledge will not make any difference because you will not remember obtaining any of this information...
[And THAT is what bugs the Vulcan the most... the only give away is his hands imperceptibly tightening on the handlebars of the wheelchair.]
no subject
[He's quiet for a few moments before speaking again.]
Really hope that's true. Can't afford to lose the time otherwise; it'll end up killing a lot of people.
[And him with his hands already tied further than they were. Damn it.]
no subject
Indeed? May I inquire as to the situation you were in prior to coming here?
[Spock's voice always sounded analytic... but his eyes were kind.]
no subject
Not that it makes it any easier to sleep at night.
He weighs his answer before speaking again.]
They've found a way to erase their weakness to sunlight. And over half my crew is out of commission--including one of them being captured, and another one about to...die from the infection. I've got maybe eight hours to come up with something to stop what's going on and get what's left of my team out.
[There, that doesn't sound too bad, right? Mind you, he's leaving out the fact that the captive will be used in the ritual to take away the weakness to sunlight...and that Derek had been on the way in to kill the other team member before the infection could turn her. That...didn't really need to be relayed, although the weight of that knowledge probably shows in his voice and the restless twitch of his wings.]
no subject
I grieve with thee.
no subject
His voice is quiet, but more or less steady when he answers.]
You'd be grieving for a long time; it's not that unusual for a hunt like this to go bad. It's part of the risk we all take, every time.
...but, thank you.
no subject
It is difficult, regardless of the job, to lose a member of the team.. Though we know the risks, it does not make the situation easier.
If you ever wish to meditate, I can be made available.
no subject
Yeah, I know. It's why I usually work solo.
[But not this time. Damn you, Brody. You should have let him go it alone, as usual.
Derek tears himself off that thought. Now was not the time...]
Thanks. Not sure I'll take you up on that, but I appreciate the offer.
no subject
My reasons for offering meditation is for relief from the obvious conflict in your mind.
However, there are other means... You must be...restless from having such an injury.
[Spock wheels them in the direction of the fountain.
