Intro Log - Voice/Action

[Illogical does not even begin to characterize the situation that Spock has found himself in. Approximately 2.4 minutes ago he was on the bridge of the USS Enterprise, and through some, as of yet unexplained phenomenon taking no time at all, (possibly through some spacial anomaly or undetected ion storm) suddenly appeared inverted in a tree... Current conditions also leave much to be desired. Spock's Vulcan physiology requires higher temperatures, and proper garments for optimal comfort... the forest in which he is now located has a lower than optimal temperature, and coupled with the disappearance of his Uniform and thermal wear he finds himself rather... cold. Though, perhaps it is fortuitous that he appeared in clothes at all... the white pants will have to suffice.
Upon his initial assessment, and descent from the tree, he was amazed to see an alteration to his physical person]

...Fascinating.

[Spock cards his fingers through the feathered protrusions located in the area of his scapula. Since he could feel a rather curious sensation through manual stimulus of the ...wings, Spock can safely assume they are indeed his newly acquired appendages. He could not fail to notice that his wings are the same ebony color his hair is.
Taking in his surroundings, Spock could hear the sound of running water close by... but nothing significant that could give him evidence of his location. The terrain was similar to that of Earth, however, there was 'something' about them that Spock could not quite explain that told him 'no, this is not Earth'...
As he was about to venture towards the water in hopes of finding civilization, something catches his attention... it appears to be some form of recording device located at the base of the tree in which he just descended from. Picking up the device he also notices that it has his name on it and it appears to be active. Curious... This proves that he was indeed sent here on purpose. But why?
Spock finally decides to speak out loud.]

Greetings, I am Spock. Is there a conscious form of life out there that can tell me my current location?

[This is the part of the story where Molly quite literally bites her tongue. This isn't something she'd ever usually bring up, and certainly not at first blush. She blames herself for being a fangirl and the unwitting desire to show off and -

Darn it, Molly.]

Um. Well? In my version of Earth, magic is real. And there are some people who are born with the ability to access it.

Fascinating.

In my universe, magic only exist in folklore and 'fairy tales'. Though we have encountered supernatural abilities during out exploratory travels, nothing has seemed quite as...fantastical as that. Is there a particular subcategory defining your type of magic?

[Spock cannot help but be curious, he is a scientist after all.... and this is a fortuitous opportunity.]

[They should be just about arriving at the Clothing Shop now. Molly turns to go up the steps.]

A subcategory? As opposed to...

[What kinds of categories did he think magic had? It did have some, but - she was more curious about he thinks then about spilling out information that she wasn't sure was necessary, wanted, or wise.]

Where do you draw your 'magic' from? The source? From what I have read, wielders of magic who did not draw their magic from an inherent ability summoned it from an elemental aspect. However, there are also more specific categories ranging from healing to psychic. Forgive me if I am asking too much, but I am most curious about your ability.

[Molly was startled. Pleased, but startled, and she blinked for a moment before meeting his gaze - very, very briefly - but in that startled instant he made a minute breakthrough, because she stopped thinking of him, in that moment, as Spock, and saw him as an interested, interesting individual.

She shifted her gaze away before she risked a soulgaze, but couldn't help express her surprise.]

I'm surprised that you looked into it. I didn't think--

[--okay, so, way to almost spill the beans, Molly.]

I mean, most worlds that don't have magic just sort of... dismiss it. And even most people in my world don't want to acknowledge its existence, even if it happens right in front of their eyes.

Indeed. I am interested in all cultural exchange. It is apart of Vulcan teaching: IDIC, infinite diversity in infinite combinations. Just because magic does not exist on Earth, does not mean that it does not exist at all. Many cultures have accused Vulcans of being wielders of magic for having telepathic abilities....hence the reason for my interest. My mother was human, she read many fictional novels.

[She blinked a few times to try to contain her enthusiasm.]

I see. Um. Well--

[Okay, she's really not doing a great job at this 'calming down' thing, because she's probably beaming a bit too much right now but. Okay.

Okay.]

There are many areas of study in magic, everything from hydromancy to thaumaturgy. But the source of magic comes from life itself. My mentor explained it to me as just that - the energy that comes from life.

Does this define your area of magic?

Oh - I'm just an apprentice. It's a large area of study. I'm getting a more general grasp of it before I can figure what area of magic to specialize in.

[She has her strengths and weaknesses and they're very well-defined, but they're working on buffering those weaknesses.]

Perhaps in the future, if you are amenable, you would honour me with a demonstration?

[...Spock just asked him to give her a magic demonstration.

You mean like sometime after we've found you a shirt?

[She paused to grin at him.]

I'd be honored. [Pause a beat and she shrugged a little ruefully.] But I have to warn you, I'm still learning. I might not be the best example.

[In his curiosity... Spock seemed to have forgotten his missing shirt... a green tint started to stain the tips of his ears. He actually looked down and fidgeted.]

...Indeed. Are we nearing the appropriate establishment?

[...Molly feels a little guilty at that. She should have just let it go. But she smiles at him, bright and engaging, before nodding.]

It's right over here.

[And she begins to head towards the doorway.

...and works towards setting him back at ease.]

So - telepathy?

[Spock follows Miss Carpenter into the establishment... he is greeting by a rather impressive amount of merchandise.]

As a Vulcan I am a touch-telepath. The ability to read one's mind and emotions through contact. Anything deeper would require a mind meld.

[Spock starts to look around...]

Sounds... complicated.

[Molly briefly weighs the risks of forthwalling.

...nope. not worth it.

She moves to follow him into the men's section.]

Anything in particular I should be looking for?

Indeed. My blue uniform shirt with black pants and boots. They are mostly military standard, so they should appear pressed.

[Spock starts to look among the racks of clothes...He was never one for idle conversation, though he finds himself interested in finding out more about this individual.]

Do you have a family Miss Carpenter?

Right. Blue uniform.

[She said in the tone of someone fixing an object in her mind.

...which she was, in fact, doing. This conversation was getting a little less weird all the time - possibly because he was proving both polite and interesting, and that was helping put her on more realistic ground - but she was also having a hard time getting over the fact that Spock just asked about her family.

Focus. She needed to focus. Molly began a methodical search of the folded shirts.]

And I do have a family back home. I'm actually the oldest of seven kids.

[It was alternatively a source of pride and shame to have a family that large. But this long into Luceti? She just... missed them. All of them.]

We're each about a year apart.

Indeed, it must be difficult to be away from them at this time? I myself have no siblings. However I.... [Spock was about to mention his mother, but he decided not to talk about her. This was not the time and he needed meditation. As his Captain would say, he was 'saved by the bell' that he located his uniform shirt.]

I seem to have located my shirt. Would you wait a moment while I put it on?

[Molly did miss them. She tried not to think about it, however.]

Sure, the dressing rooms are in the back and - I don't know if these are uniform pants, but they look like they might fit?

[She offers the black pants to him.]

[Spock looks at the pants and takes them from Miss Carpenter...]
Those are indeed my uniform pants, I thank thee.

[Spock goes into the dressing rooms at the back.... after a few minutes there seems to be rather muffled banging noises emitting from the dressing room....]

[In order to not think about Spock changing in the back, Molly had been searching for new graphic T-Shirts. Every once in a while, she got lucky, and one showed up in her size.

...however, the banging sound coming from the dressing room drew her curious concern.]

Everything all right in there?

...I appear BANG to be having difficulty fitting my uniform over the wings. Do you have a sharp object I might utilize?

[Molly grimaced at that. New wings were tender as all get out.]

Ah - I don't, actually. I could run to the Smithy and get one.

[Or - magic, hey, could she use magic to cut something? ...probably not very well.]

Or you could just try a different shirt in the meantime?

Negative, that will not be necessary....

May I ask a favour Miss Carpenter?
