Personal Log #18 - [Action - All Day]

The Dome:

[One of the simulator doors is wide open for anyone to see inside, and for the most part, the room is empty... except for a tv, and a large couch; the back of which is facing the door. For anyone who knows the Vulcan well, they'll recognize the cap of neat, black hair sticking above the back of the couch. What will seem odd though are the sounds coming from the room...

...sounds, for those who would recognize them, that resemble something like video games from the mid eighties to early nineties.

If anyone dares to venture into the room and walks around the couch, they'll see the floor littered with games for the various consoles set up by the tv. Currently, Spock is engrossed with Super Mario Bros for the SNES, his eyebrows and mouth fixated in a scary looking frown as he navigates through the levels.]



[ooc: Spock has been gone for just about two weeks, and is now suffering under a inconvenient effect: he's addicted to video games. For those who would like to jump in on this, there are extra controllers. *hint hint*

[Spock's expression doesn't change much, but he does look oddly pleased to hear that another Vulcan dared to join Starfleet.]

I am pleased to hear this.
[He wonders if Tuvok was given a hard time joining Starfleet too.]

[Harry and Spock play video games in silence for a good long while... and he wonders who is going to address their last meeting first.]

Are you adjusting to Luceti well?

[He nods, glad to give some good news.]

Yeah, settling in. The first couple weeks weren't easy.

[Spock goes silent for a few minutes, getting really into the game...until the round ends and he talks once more.]

I am pleased to hear that your situation is improving. I will admit, I was concerned.

I wasn't exactly myself. I don't know what B'Elanna told you? [It's definitely a leading question; Harry doesn't want to rehash anything that's already been said.]

[spohkh]

[Spock quirks an eyebrow, looking amused at the hidden question.]

Miss Torres has told me nothing about your situation, nor do I expect answers. It is your personal business, no mater what Captain Kirk may tell you.

[Because everyone knew that Jim was worse than an old woman for wanting to get into everyone's business.]

Yeah, personal business and all but I ended up letting it spill over pretty badly. [He sighs, fiddles with the controller for a second. When he speaks, he's looking at the controller, not Spock.] I was in a prison before I came here. Wrongfully accused of a bombing. [He adds that part quickly.] Part of the punishment was that they messed with some chemicals in my brain. I... can't really explain it better without asking B'Elanna about. I was pretty out of control.

[Spock looks back at the screen, starting another race before talking again.]

May I inquire as to what you mean by 'out of control'?

[Harry settles into the race, finally making a little more sense of the controller.]

They attached something to my skull. We called it a clamp. It, uhm. It made it nearly impossible to remain emotionally level. [Funny he's talking to a Vulcan about this.] Increased agitation, inability to control anger, nervcousness and anxiety. Pretty much everything bad elevated all the time.

They were able to remove this clamp, yes?

[He wanted to ask if Harry did anything he regretted, but it wasn't his business.]

Yes. B'Elanna almost had to hold me down to do it, but yes. It was removed.

[spohkh]

She is very strong, and it is fortunate that you have recovered. And while Luceti can be cruel, it does have moments of quiet and peace... perhaps you can take advantage and indulge in a vacation of sorts.

[Because it's either accept your situation, or go nuts trying to find a way out.]

Yeah, maybe so. I might deserve a vacation.

[Not really, but he'll go with it, just for the sake of not arguing.]

[After a moment of silence, the Vulcan finally speaks... taking a moment to be honest.]

The stars are not real.

[Wait, what?]

I'm sorry?

[spohkh]

[Spock gives him a quirked eyebrow, one that says 'why are you apologising you illogical human?']

As a fellow Starfleet officer, I am sharing with you, for me, the most unsettling aspect about Luceti. The stars that we see are a fabrication.

[Spock continues playing the game as if they aren't having a weird conversation. Don't mind the Vulcan, he's under odd Malnosso affects right now.]

Ah. [Harry just stares at him for a second. Really interested in the game, huh?]

It's weird but not the strangest I've seen. Definitely unsettling, though.

I spent the first ten months in Luceti trying to escape it. But I have long since stopped...

[The Vulcan puts his controller down when the big 'game over' flashed on the screen. His desire to play seems to have receded.]

Do you play chess, Mister Kim?
