Personal Log #18 - [Action - All Day]

The Dome:

[One of the simulator doors is wide open for anyone to see inside, and for the most part, the room is empty... except for a tv, and a large couch; the back of which is facing the door. For anyone who knows the Vulcan well, they'll recognize the cap of neat, black hair sticking above the back of the couch. What will seem odd though are the sounds coming from the room...

...sounds, for those who would recognize them, that resemble something like video games from the mid eighties to early nineties.

If anyone dares to venture into the room and walks around the couch, they'll see the floor littered with games for the various consoles set up by the tv. Currently, Spock is engrossed with Super Mario Bros for the SNES, his eyebrows and mouth fixated in a scary looking frown as he navigates through the levels.]

[ooc: Spock has been gone for just about two weeks, and is now suffering under a inconvenient effect: he's addicted to video games. For those who would like to jump in on this, there are extra controllers. *hint hint*
Also, it's good to be back~ /hugs everyone/]

This is the first of this type that I've seen, and I believe it must be from an era different than my own. [Considering her Earth is still using primitive weapons and doesn't use electricity at all, compared to the spacefaring Moon Kingdom.]

However, there is a game they call chess...

[Perhaps she knows, or can imagine, the problem. Mercury may not be very familiar with these games, but she's seen obsessions form before. The question left for her is what she can do about it.]

Would you like to have a chess match? [She caught that glimmer of interest.]

Cannot?

[It's not her place to tell Spock, or anyone really, what he should do, yet she's very concerned about the fact he seems to want to stop.

Her first answer is to try to make doing something else sound even more appealing.]

I think a chess match could be very interesting. We could make it a tournament.

[Well, a chess tournament is her idea of interesting anyway.]

[There's still something about the way Spock implied he was somewhat being carried along against his will, and it's leaving the machine that bothers him, but video game addiction isn't really something known in her time, and it seems a good compromise.]

I think that sounds fine.

When I was younger, before I went to the moon kingdom, a tutor introduced me to the game. He said I might find it fun.

[Oh, another chance to pry him away.]

Shall we play that variant?

[She has the grace to look sheepish a moment. She hadn't realized her attempt would be obvious. She covers her quick embarrassment with a nod, and turns off the television before turning back to Spock.]

Please teach me how to play this version of chess.

I think that would be a good idea. [Whether this is simply a polite acceptance of the invitation, or whether she's still thinking it will get Spock away from the video games, she doesn't say.]
