The Dome:

[One of the simulator doors is wide open for anyone to see inside, and for the most part, the room is empty... except for a tv, and a large couch; the back of which is facing the door. For anyone who knows the Vulcan well, they'll recognize the cap of neat, black hair sticking above the back of the couch. What will seem odd though are the sounds coming from the room...

...sounds, for those who would recognize them, that resemble something like video games from the mid eighties to early nineties.

If anyone dares to venture into the room and walks around the couch, they'll see the floor littered with games for the various consoles set up by the tv. Currently, Spock is engrossed with Super Mario Bros for the SNES, his eyebrows and mouth fixated in a scary looking frown as he navigates through the levels.]

[ooc: Spock has been gone for just about two weeks, and is now suffering under a inconvenient effect: he's addicted to video games. For those who would like to jump in on this, there are extra controllers. *hint hint*

[Lance is actually starting to feel a little bad, and looks over at Spock.]

[Don't feel bad, Spock's just competitive.]

Is there a more logical way to predict which pokemon you are going to use first?
[Lance was intuitive... he had to recognize that at least.]

... Logical?

[He scratches his head and thinks for a moment.]

Well, no, not really. Unless you're a psychic or are just that good at predicting. That's part of what makes battles challenging. You never know what the other trainer will send out next.

[Spock's curious nature won out in the end, and he finally lowers the controller, giving his full attention to Lance.]

Have you ever lost a match, in real life?

Many times, though not as often these days. I'm a master Pokemon trainer in my world. As champion of my league, other trainers come to challenge me.

[So don't feel bad, Spock. A lot of people have lost to Lance.]

[Whatever spell Spock seems to have been under seems to loosen as he regards Lance.]

It would take the complete cooperation from your pokemon to win you these matches, yes? They must... respect you.
[The Vulcan wondered how they were treated.]

Right.

[Lance nods, considering Spock for a moment and the sudden interest.]

We trainers, those of us who do it properly, take a great deal of time building out relationships with our Pokemon.

And you keep them in those devices?
[Spock looks at the pokeballs...] May I see one of your pokemon?

[He nods.]

Of course.

[Lance then stands and moves so that he can release the Pokemon behind the couch. And then in a flash of light, Dragonite appears. The dragon looking around curiously before looking to Spock and Lance with a happy squeal.]

[Spock puts down the controller, actually setting it aside so he can give his full attention to the remarkable creature in front of him.]

That is a Dragonite... does he have a name?
[Tentatively, the Vulcan presents his hand to the Pokemon.]

[Dragonite ducks his head as Spock puts out his hand. You can pet him if you want to, Spock.]

Actually, that's his name too.

The Vulcan gingerly strokes the top of the Pokemon's head, completely fascinated.
Through touch, he can feel the creature's happiness and baseline thoughts. "He cares for you quite a bit."

[Lance smiles as he watches, while Dragonite simply enjoys the petting.]

We have been together for a long time.

[Spock takes a few more moments to enjoy Dragonite's surface emotions before turning back to Lance.]

You have more pokemon with you?

I do.

[And now Lance releases another one of his Pokemon. This time a small blue bird-looking Pokemon appears with cloud-like wings.

Altaria chirps happily and looks around before gazing up at Spock with those adorable beady eyes of his.]

[Spock regards the new creature for some time, then frowns.]

What are his wings made of?

[The Vulcan reaches a hand out, offering it to Altaria.]

Just a lot of very fluffy white feathers.

[Altaria hums happily as Spock reaches out to him, apparently just as friendly as Dragonite. In fact he likes attention a lot more.]

What is it like for them in the pokeballs?

[Spock reaches for his messenger bag, getting out his tricorder and scanning Altaria. The readings are... different, but then again not.]

That's... a good question. I'm not sure anyone knows, exactly. But they are designed for the Pokemon's comfort. I've never had a Pokemon seem discontent with being in their Pokeball.

... What's that?

[He's referring to the tricorder of course.]

It is called a tricorder, a device that takes readings of all organic materials, breaking them down into percentages.
Though I admit, it is having difficulty telling me everything about your pokemon.

[The Vulcan stands, regarding Lance.]

[Huh. Okay. Sounds like an interesting device.]
