10/8--evening
It's also a matter of physics. [He shed his jacket and scarf as he spoke, no longer caring to be discreet about Spock's gift to him. It was a great boon, but one that he was being careful with. People didn't need to know about his problems if it wasn't necessary.
Lupin flipped through the clothes in his closet in search for the yukata in question.] Different colors absorb or reflect heat at different rates, but there is also a cultural significance to them. A white flower, seen as something pure and untouched in Europe, represents death in parts of Asia.
[He located the yukata and knocked on the door before cracking it open to pass of to Spock. The man deserved his privacy, after all.
That didn't stop him from leaning against the nearby wall.]
Vulcan. Desert planet. The winter here is going to be rough for you if we're not careful.
Re: 10/8--evening
When he is finished he steps out, looking rather comfortable in his new outfit and nods to Arsene's comment.]
Indeed, I am rather dreading the lower temperatures that Luceti will present... Though I can merely... layer.
Out of curiosity, what is the significance of the Yukata you have provided for me?
[Spock looks more...relaxed, though he remains hovering around Lupin.]
10/8--evening
There's no real significance. It's just something I picked up in Shizuoka a few years back. Nice, isn't it?
[He led Spock down the hall.]
You can sleep in the room at the far end...[a moment's pause when he opened the door to reveal the furnished but as yet unembellished room, ...here. At least it's got pillows and blankets, right?
Re: 10/8--evening
...yes.. Thank you Sa-Kai. This looks sufficient. You and I are in much need of rest...I shall see you in the morning.
[Spock makes a move to enter the room...]
10/8--evening
If you need anything--anything at all--I'm right next door. There's no shame in asking for an assist. [Not that he ever did, but that was for completely different reasons. It was an old habit born of necessity, but Spock didn't lead nearly as rough a lifestyle. He lived by different rules...
This wasn't playing by them. This was respecting them.
Lupin withdrew, but lingered in the door for a moment.]
I'll be literally on the other side of this wall.
[It was a parting comment, because he would literally go silent once he went to bed. He left the little device that Spock had given him sitting on the nightstand while he slept, lest he accidentally damage it.
He withdrew completely, leaving the door cracked open behind him, and went to his own room to get ready for bed.]
1/?
This feeling... it was almost suffocating. He looked at his sleeve where Lupin has grasped it...
..he was pathetic.
Spock tightens his robe and makes himself comfortable in his new quarters. The bed is 'soft' and the temperature is sufficient...however the adequateness will not help him sleep, though he knows he needs it.
Spock contemplates algorithms in the dark wondering if that will put him to sleep. Eventually he closes his eyes....
Re: 2/?
Eventually Spock falls into a fitful sleep.....
Re: 3/3
A thin noise escapes his lips and his breathing increases.
A sudden movement causes him to bang against the headboard making a rather loud sound.]
no subject
That pulled Lupin from his quick, deep slumber.
He staggered out of bed, still groggy from sleep and off center from his singularly pointed focus on getting to Spock and not on where the ground actually was. Lupin fell heavily against a wall, but braced himself against it just long enough to regain his center. He could use it as a guide in the dark, and did.
Lupin found his way into Spock's room, and was glad for the gaslights that lined the pathways and the clear sky that night. The sky was always clearest before a storm.]
Spock?
[It was a question, asked out of concern, that wafted soundlessly in the night. Lupin silently cursed. Of course the Malnosso were going to keep screwing with him! The rush of nerves cleared his focus enough to slowly cross the distance from the door to Spock's bed.
A moment's hesitation was his final obstacle before he reached out and gently shook Spock's shoulder.]
awww.... I woke you up..... go back to bed darlin'! XDD *giggles*
but there's no one there to keep it warm~
He was only trained in the superficial, and that was through experience alone. Lupin centered his focus and took the only option that was left to him. He took Spock's hand with his own and reached out for the link that he didn't even know how to find.]
Sa-kai...?
~fine. XD *giggles* 'also, trying something out... does it fit? Xd'
Then what seems to be like a reel of memories .
that...works |D
It was of no benefit here. The grief over what happened, the pain of millions of lives lost, and the unbridled fury that Spock himself could barely contain. 'Emotionally compromised'--
The meager foundations that Spock erected were torn down by the whims of the Malnosso.
Lupin gripped his hand tighter, and called out once more through that still unfound link.]
Spock? I'm here. Talk to me.
Lawl. ^_^ Thanks for letting me try it out! XD
....Sa-Kai....
[Spock brings them out of his mind and they find themselves once more in the room, Spock staring up at Arsene...]
My apologies for waking you up. [Spock looks at their connected hands and cannot help but feel reluctance at the prospect of letting go.]
no problem~
Apologies weren't necessary. It was why he made sure they were so close.
He sat wearily on the edge of the bed, grateful for something solid to grasp as an anchor, and tried to offer a reassuring smile in the dark. He squeezed their connected hands once again, in case the smile was missed.]
Bad dreams?
no subject
So it would seem. Dreaming is a phenomenon I am not familiar with as it happens rarely. Vulcan's you see, do not dream.
[Spock squeezed his hand in return gently...]
Please, return to bed... I may read or attempt to mediate, but sleeping is not going to be a possibility at this juncture.
no subject
Spock's explanation about Vulcan's and their lack of dreams felt off to him. Spock was still half human. There was documented evidence in his world that humans, for one reason or another, needed to dream in order to survive. No one could explain how or why this was necessary.
Despite his reluctance to comply with Spock's suggestion, he knew it was necessary. The fatigue wouldn't go away unless he did properly rest, and their current discussion was a rare moment when his wings were in the open.
This was his own home and, despite the chill outside, he liked to sleep without a shirt on. The loose fitting pants remained, but the chill that creeped through the tight windows was starting to sink in. His skin was starting to prickle and his wings folded tight to conserve heat.
He knew what the answer was.]
If you insist...you know where I'll be.
[Lupin withdrew his hand, disconnecting their physical link in the process, and offered a nod before he stumbled back to bed.]
~baby is cold outside. bawhahahahahahaha! *evil laughter*
Illogical.
Stock sat up in bed and stared at the wall for awhile....he contemplated meditation...but he was tired. And this was ridiculous. The solution was ridiculous and he did not want to subject Lupin to it...
....but would he mind? Spock thought it was highly likely that he would not, but he still felt as though he would be taking advantage once more.
His weakness gave in once more as an hour later Spock was silently making his way to Lupin's room. He opened the door and peered in for a moment before stepping over the threshold...
oh ROFL
rofl indeed! XD *giggles* -you post reply right? It should never end!!!!!!!!!!! XD
...To borrow a human idiom...what on EARTH was he doing? He was giving into his baser instincts...
Spock pulled the covers down and sat on the bed, careful not to jostle and making sure the blankets were pulled up, he curled around Lupin's form.
The link was like calming agent.... a warm breeze... an embrace. Something that he simply needed right now, and he had to be near it.
no subject
He shifted at the added weight to the mattress and huffed in curiosity at the sudden presence of a body and warmth. Still groggy, he reached for Spock's hand. Lupin couldn't say how he knew that his companion was Spock. Perhaps it was his instinctual memory of their difference in body temperature. Perhaps it was the link.
Lupin shifted closer to take advantage of the warmth.]
This better...?
[Their link was the best option. He would never have found his voice when he was only steps away from returning to his dreams.]
....the wibbles killed me.
Spock's head bowed forward till it was almost touching Arsene's and was finally finally able to slip into a dreamless sleep wrapped in comfort and peace.]
